A year later and I can't believe I'm going to write about my favorite Canadian idiot again. But here goes... HI! His name is Karol Madera but I call him KKKarol and his call's VE7KFM. The KKK is there because he sounds like he'd be right at home in a pointy white hood. You know all that if you've been following this blog.

If you read VE7KFM.com you already know about most of his friends. Little Brandon Duke, a young boy he invited to live with him, is now in jail for taking a shot at a cop in Longmont, Colorado. The cop shot back, 3 times, and Brandon was in surgery before they popped him in the clink for possible attempted MURDER.

Another world class loser and friend of Karol's is Toad O'Dochartaigh in Taylorville, Il. Seems the Toad's about to go to trial for harassment. Toad's another one who writes checks his narrow ass cain't cash.

How bout that KKKarol? Funny how all your friends turn out to be criminals ain't it? Of course, I'm the first one to point that out and it looks I was right all along.

Then we have Goldberg the Pirate and Baxter the boy broadcaster and Witless Tritch the ID thief and let's not forgit ol' Dave Tolassi, the great shrinking brain, as I call him, Hi! Too many losers to count when it comes to KKKarol and his friends.

Now, the point of this post is to discuss Karol's latest stunt. He's been telling a lady at the FCC she can perform oral sex on him. Not only that but he's been calling her the "C" word on the air. Despite a few hundred complaints, I guess this is OK with the moron in charge of Industry Can-a-duh in KKKarol's area. That's really something ain't it?

My point is simply this. When you're such a pathetic low-down cowardly puke as to take shots at a lady and when you stoop as low as you can go, which is way lower than snake shit, like this Karol Madera feller has, then you earn the title Scumbag of the Year in my book.

I wasn't the least bit surprised when folks started jamming the piss out of his crappy signal, or when they started blogging about his cowardly ways, or even when they banned him from all the polite forums like qrz, eham, and ham island.

In my opinion he deserves all that and a helluva lot more. If he wasn't hiding in a slum in what looks like a crack house on a shitty island in western Can-a-duh, I might open a big can of whoop ass on him myself.

You might even want to look at the outhouse he calls home for a few laughs. Use Google Maps and plug in "3040 Tillicum Road, Saanich, BC V9A 2B3" and look for the tv tower in the yard. See what I mean?

Well, it's been about a month since my last update. My rig is on the way back from the shop finally. Yaesu don't give a rip about speed but their service is pretty good otherwise. Cost me a pretty penny too. Maybe I'll have to sell my qsl collection on epay to get er out of hock, HI HI.

I'm listening to that idiot KKKarol up in Cana-duh right now at 10 PM my time. He says he's going to rip the new enforcement lady a new one on Cana-duh day. My ain't he special. He wants to beat up on a lady he never met. There's a officer and a gentleman for you.

Seems my old pal Dave the incredible shrinking brain in Vermont is in some trouble according to folks on 275. I hear tell pot head Dave is fixin to lose his ticket finally for those threats against Brian and Riley and Daveys malicious QRM with ol KKKarol. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Guess ol Dave is about to join Porkbutt and David Castle in radio prison. Maybe there is some justice in the world after all.

Canada don't regulate potty mouth talk or threats but from the scuttlebut I got, nobody in the U.S.A. or Cana-duh is payin any attention to ol KKKarol's whining anymore anyway. For a few months he managed to get email from the FCC until the nice lady figgered out he's a G-damn liar and a nutcase, just like Riley always said he was.

I'll never forget Riley callin him a fruitcake at Dayton in 2008. Good ol Riley.

I also hear the Toad from Taylorville may be in some trouble for the same kind of threats Dave made. And old Marky the mental spammer from Chassell, MI is still jamming, spamming, and stealing peoples identities. Why don't he get a job, stop harrassing folks, and stay off that damn computer?

At least some of these folks should be in radio prison or behind bars real soon.

Naturally, it's ol KKKarol's fault. We all know he riles up the retards and the insane folk down here like Toad and Marky and then hides in his crappy little shack behind the border on an island where he knows damn well he won't get visitors coming to call because he's so damn far off the beaten path. That man is a true coward if there ever was one. Musta cracked his fool skull when he fell down that hatch drunk off his fool head.

Well folks, a station was heard a few days ago calling CQ on 275 and what do you know? KKKarol, the Canadian Clown (look up ve7kfm at qrz) began interfering, just like the old days.

I guess your "affair" with Laura Smith is over, eh Karol? What a deal. This @-hole has been jamming 20 meters for at least 7 years and he's still doing it!

Old KKKarol thought he was tight with the new enforcement lady for a while, but it turns out she knows KKKarol, MArk, Toad, Witless, ToeJoe, and all the rest are just a bunch of worthless jamming cowards and liars. How bout that!

KKKarol was even overheard asking Laura Smith to "suck his cock" and if that ain't enough to make you puke, I don't what is. Where's Jim Lausen at Industry Canada when all this is going on? I guess it's all just more of the same and we have to listen to this psycho loser until the booze and drugs finally do him in. Which ain't going to be too long in my estimation.

Mark Morgan Still Posting His Psychotic Trash

Well, Marky's still at it. Sometime around November of last year, Marky, KB9RQZ hooked up with Karol Madera, VE7KFM. Now, you have to realize, Marky is known to his law enforcement personnel as someone who is not all there. Not in his right mind, as we say in Alabama.

So, Marky writes a note to himself, using his blog, and the note is written in Marky's unmistakable style of gibberish. It was so obvious that Marky wrote the note, that Marky quickly deleted it, because so many people took one look at it, and said "Marky wrote that himself."

To make a long story short, the note was about one of Mark's long term fantasies -- that someone wanted to sell him a 9 year old boy for the purposes of sexual gratification. Marky's a sicko who is a known pervert. He tells everyone he's bi-sexual and into bondage, domination, and sado-masochism. Keep Marky far away from your kids folks!

So what does this sick bastard Marky do next? You guessed it! Marky contacted child welfare hotlines in 7 different states, and reports all his so-called enemies, and Karol's so-called enemies, as perpetrators of child pandering! I told you Marky's a sick boy.

Of course, it backfires on Marky, because he wrote the note himself, and because Law Enforcement alreadys knows Marky's a loony, because they transported Marky to Marquette Michigan, to a psychiatric unit, in 2004, for psychiatric evaluation and followup treatment!

Now Marky, if this account of events isn't 100% true, you just go ahead and sue me, and we'll order those records and look at them together in court, in front of a judge and jury.

Anyhow folks, Marky was banned from Ham Island and banned from QRZ and he was voted out of office at his radio club by a margin of 11:1. Marky voted to keep himself in the club, but, Marky was over ruled, because in the few short months Marky was in office, his fellow club members also realized Marky's "not all there" as I mentioned before. Marky was also warned by the FCC about libeling others.

Thanks for all the cards and calls from people concerned about my health. The truth is I haven't been feeling too good since Thanksgiving and haven't really felt much like blogging or getting on the air.

It doesn't help inspire confidence in the hobby of ham radio when complete a-holes like Tolassi, Madera, and Morgan accuse people of jamming, and God knows what else, when the good people the a-holes accuse, haven't even been on the radio!

Come on folks, this is supposed to a season when human beings spread good will and spend time with family and friends. Unfortunately, some people have to continue their psychotic crap all year. They can't even seem to take a break once in a while.

It's become obvious to me that some people, and the people I mentioned above, in particular, have no lives to speak of, no respect for others, and no self esteem. They constantly make fools of themselves online and on the air. Why do I even bother talking about the sickness of Karol Madera and his ilk? Idiots are idiots. Let's all move on and just ignore these fools.

ABOUT MARK MORGAN KB9RQZ -- AS SEEN ONLINE

Mark Morgan, KB9RQZ, is a very disturbed, admittedly deviant, and dishonest person who has been harrassing Amateur Radio operators and disrupting radio, and other forums, since at least 1997.

As part of his on-going fusillade, he has, at various times, insisted that he's a "colonel" in the US Army "chemical corps," further insisting that he's been "drafted," and further insisting that he was not allowed to "resign."

Never mind that he was only 8 years old when the draft was stopped in the 70's! He's since recanted the "Colonel" claim, saying he was only a Lieutenant, then claiming he was only a Sergeant at discharge -- under another name that the CIA knows about -- and approved.

Oh, and he was kicked out of the service due to his "nerves" according to Mr. Morgan. However, the HCSD and MSP both have him on record as being transported to Marquette General Hospital in 2004, due to "involuntary commitment for psychiatric evaluation."

Mr. Morgan has perpetuated a smear campaign against other members of various forums, going as far as post-editing comments, forging posts, and even trying to make "complaints" to the Civil Air Patrol Inspector General Corps and the FCC, etc., about perceived slights that have nothing to do with CAP or anything with any bearing on reality.

Recently, Morgan reported 7 different men to Child Protective Services in 7 different states. All this, because he has allied himself with yet another lunatic in Canada, known as Karol Madera, VE7KFM, who is as bad, or worse, than Mark Morgan.

This behavior is nothing more than an attempt by Morgan to "silence" those who would expose his foolishness and who refuse to tolerate his dishonesty in public forums.

Mr. Morgan has admitted to various acts of perversion and deceit, going as far as bragging about his use of lying, and his belief that deceit should be proactively taught to children as part of their upbringing.

He describes himself as a kinky, bisexual, rabbi, who is into bondage, domination, and sado-masochism. He's been banned from almost every polite radio forum on the internet, but he still spams usenet groups, nearly every day, with nonsensical messages and libel.

Mr. Morgan has even gone as far as to create multiple screen names with which to spam usenet and other forums, including one screen name that invokes the name of my deceased daughter in order to perpetuate his demented "point of view".

Be aware. Be informed. Mark C. Morgan is NOT a person of reputable character, nor does he have an honest nature. In fact, not only was he transported to Marquette General Hospital for psychiatric evaluation and treatment in 2004, but he has a long history of similar treatment and harassment of others by various devious and underhanded means.

Mark Morgan has been investigated for the abuse of his elderly father, and for making false sos calls, as recently as December, 2008. There have even been rumors that Mark Morgan stole money from his elderly father, in order to move to Michigan, to avoid prosecution there, for crimes that have not been published, yet.

This summer (2008) Mr. Morgan was voted out of the CCRAA amateur radio club by a vote of 11:1. He was ejected from that club and banned from the websites qrz.com and ham island.net. Reports of dishonesty, slander, libel, and theft, follow Mark Morgan around the internet, like the stench from the local dump.

Ham Radio has a Patron Saint!

I wonder how many of us are aware we indeed seem to have a Patron Saint?

During the WW2 German occupation of Poland, a Ham radio Priest, Maximilian Kolbe, SP3RN, was arrested by the Germans.

The Germans believed his amateur radio activities were somehow involved in espionage, and Kolbe was transferred to Auschwitz on May 28, 1941.

After some prisoners escaped in 1941, the Germans ordered that 10 prisoners be killed in retribution.

Father Kolbe was martyred when he volunteered to take the place of one of the condemned men.

On October 10, 1982, Kolbe was canonized by Pope John Paul II as Saint Maximilian Kolbe, Apostle of Consecration to Mary, and declared a Martyr of charity.

Kolbe is now considered the Patron saint of Amateur radio operators.

So, while some Poles became martyrs, others sold their souls to the Nazis, and then emigrated to Canada after the war.

You can hear their offspring to this day. Just tune in to 14.275 and point your antenna toward an island on the west coast of Canada, just north of Seattle.

Listen for an obscene fellow named Karol. If you pay attention, it's easy too hear him goose-stepping around in his little attic shack, not very far from the offices of Industry Canada.

Sorry about the absence and not updating the page. Had to do some maintenance around the house like painting and such and haven't been paying attention much. Been working a lot of cw on 80 meters and bands have been pretty good!

Reading ve7kfm.com it looks like old Karol up in Saanich, BC may be in some trouble again. The article mentions something about stalking, extortion, and vandalism. Oh my! This isn't the first time rcmp have been in intersted in ve7kfm. Seems I remember his saying they've been to his place quite a bit in the last few years.

Also reading where that nutcase Mark has been sending out fake sos calls again and getting his own visits from cops or sheriffs or what have you. Couldn't happen to a nicer person. Got an email from Stan saying somebody discovered Mark had a little trip to the nut hatch back in 2004. Got the info from one of those freedom of information sites the government runs. Now theres a surprise huh?

DESECHEO ISLAND DXPEDITION IS A GO.

Desecheo Island DXpedition dates announced
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has notified the team that February 12-26, 2009, will be the dates allocated for the radio operation. These dates are coordinated with other USFWS research activities scheduled on other parts of Desecheo Island as well as scheduling USFWS security personnel for the camp.

Fifteen operators will be allowed on the island at any given time. A total of 6-8 stations will be operational, including 160-6 meters.

A reconnaissance trip to Desecheo is scheduled for Friday, December 19. Three team members, USFWS personnel and an UXO (unexploded ordnance) expert will sweep and clear the assigned area of UXO and other hazards. There will be no radio operations.

The 15-man team will assemble in Puerto Rico on February 8, 2009, for mandatory UXO training. The next three days will include team operations training, and last minute preparation and staging of the several tons of equipment for transport. On February 12 th, landing will commence and two stations will be immediately activated. Likewise, stations will continue to operate until the final moments before departure on February 26th.

Halfway through the operation, on February 19th, approximately half of the operating team will be replaced with fresh operators for the final week.

The team has been diligently planning antennas and propagation paths to take advantage of every possible band opening to Asia, where Desecheo is #2 on the Most Wanted List and to Europe, where it is #3 on the Most Wanted List.

Remember back about a year ago when the majority of congress and Big Bank all decided that it would be a good idea to make it harder for you, The Little Guy, to file bankruptcy and get out of BAD DEBT? They all managed to come together to stick it to you real good.
Well, it’s those same players that are now coming to you, The Little Guy, and expecting all of us to bail them out of BAD DEBT! I have some advice for the members of congress and Big Bank…

Whatever principles (graft) and directives (graft) that brought you to the conclusion that we, as a society, should be “more responsible” and not be able to easily dissolve our BAD DEBT are the same principles and directives that should be used in this case to address the problems that both congress and Big Bank have brought on themselves.

If me and you, The Little Guy, has to ride a sinking ship of debt to the depths of the ocean then so should Big Bank, the BIG THREE, and heaven forbid..BIG OIL... Period.

WORKED DX ON KAROLS FREQUENCY.

What a surprise. Karol actually left me alone to
work some DX. Worked VK2GWB and V21DB on or about
his private push of 14.275.

Then I went to chatting with Dean, AC5IU and I guess
KAROL didn't like be using his name in vane, or
something like that.

So after about a half hour of his diatribe and me
attempting to chat with him sensibly, which turned
out to be impossible I finally just spouted my last
and left. Course he kept on babbling away.

Shortly thereafter comes Bolshevik Bob, KA6URA. A
WWII US NAVY Veteran that has his ship sunk from
under him comes on and SUPPORTS KAROL. Must be
brain cell shrinkage. Sorry to BOB.

KFM did reveal that he made it through school by
being on WELFARE and doing duty as "Acting Corporal
of the Black Flag". Further explained by saying
he was an officer and it was equivalent to the
American rank of CAPTAIN who had the Congressional
Medal of Honor. Any input on this one boys and
girls?

When I mentioned I knew his old man was on welfare
most of his life and they had a special program for
KAROL's type, spoke two languages (Polish and pidgeon
English). And his financial situation they allowed
him to attend the academy for FREE. Part of his
payback was inspecting and cleaning the LATRINES.
(In Canada they are called BLACK FLAG) at least that
is what I guessed at in jest. Poor KAROL went quiet
on that one. HO HO.

Karol seems a bit retarded of late. I notice he is
drinking a lot of that "micro brew rot gut". Good
thing the band is dropping out early. That way we
don't have to listen to his Anti American diatribe
for so long.

Amazing. I thought I had heard it all but the other day I received a note indicating that Karol also said he had carried Canada's nuclear code launch sequences!

I assure you, we wouldn't let that lunatic carry anything more lethal than a sharp pencil! As long as it was firmly ensconced in a pocket protector, that is.

I have it on good authority that Karol was thrown out of the military because of a serious mental disability (he's crazy) not to mention a few other pecaddilloes involving young cadets and hot showers.

Serious Doubts About Karol Madera's So-Called Military Career

Several men associated with the US and Canadian military have questioned the truthfulness of Karol Madera's numerous and conflicting accounts of his so-called military career. Canadians have questioned Madera's lack of a Canadian Forces Decoration, which is given to those who honorably served Canada's military for at least 12 years.

In addition, Madera told his friend, Whitney Tritch, who is a known military fraud about a crime he committed whilst in the Canadian Forces. Madera misrepresented himself to a superior officer and his military peers, awarding himself "several ranks" above his actual rank.

Madera also states, in writing, that he was trained as a Navigator and as a Communications & Electronic Warfare Officer, and he also said that he hunted "Red Octobers" in the North Atlantic on a DDH (Naval Destroyer).

However, Madera also says he served an "unprececedented" 3 tours of duty in the UN Emergency Force in the Middle East. Yet, curiously, he is not in possession of the UNEFME medal he would have received for such service.

Obviously, submarine hunting on a Destroyer in the North Atlantic is very different from serving as base librarian in the middle east, which is also a duty Madera said he performed.

We know via court records (and Madera's own accounts) that Madera is not a lawyer or a real estate agent, and that he is, in fact, a liar and a fraud. He was not admitted to British Columbia's Law Society, and he was locked out of the Victoria Real Estate Board in connection with allegations of a bizarre homosexual conspiracy. When Madera lost a lawsuit against the VREB concerning those allegations, Madera accused Judge Keith Bracken (Now a Chief Justice) of being bought off, or sucked off, in chambers."

Interestingly, Madera exposed (on his own page) his complete ignorance of naval surface weapons systems, in use for some 30 years. He failed to demonstrate knowledge regarding upgrades to a well known version of the U.S. Navy's celebrated Phalanx CIWS system which is installed on both Destroyers in the Canadian Navy which patrol the North Atlantic.

For someone who claims to have served aboard a Destroyer "hunting Red Octobers," Madera reveals an astounding ignorance of naval weapons systems; the purpose of second source contracts; and the evolving nature of naval weaponry, in general.

Although Madera says he served aboard a Destroyer in the North Atlantic, he is not conversant with weapons systems on Canadian Destroyers, and there is no record of Madera having served aboard either the Iroquois or the Athabaskan, the only two Destroyers in the Canadian Navy to ply the waters of the North Atlantic in anti-submarine duty during the period he claims to have served.

We, at the Center for Media Studies, believe that questioning Madera's honesty is an exercise in redundancy and futility, since it is an established fact that Karol Madera is both a fraud, and a liar.

The Zionists, he promised, would be wiped off the face of the earth. So Hitler was elected to power by only 1/3 the popular vote. A coalition of other political parties in parliament made him supreme leader. Then, when he was leader, he disgraced and expelled everyone in parliament who did not go along with him. Yes. Change came to my homeland as the new leader promised it would. The teachers in German schools began to teach the children to sing songs in praise of Hitler. This was the beginning of the Hitler Youth movement. It began with praise of the Fuhrer's programs on the lips of innocent children. Hymns in praise of Hitler and his programs were being sung in the schoolrooms and in the play yard. Little girls and boys joined hands and sang these songs as they walked home from school. My brother came home and told Papa what was happening at school. The political hymns of children proclaimed Change was coming to our homeland and the Fuhrer was a leader we could trust. I will never forget my father's face: grief and fear. He knew that the best propaganda of the Nazis was song on the lips of little children. That evening before he said grace at the dinner table, he placed his hands upon the heads of my brothers and me and prayed the Living Word upon us from Jeremiah 1:4-5: Now the Word of the Lord came to me, saying, 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations. Soon the children's songs praising the Fuhrer were heard everywhere on the streets and over the radio. With our Fuhrer to lead us, we can do it! We can change the world! Soon after that Papa, a pastor, was turned away from visiting elderly parishioners in hospitals. The people he had come to bring comfort of God's Word, were 'no longer there.' Where had they vanished to while under nationalized health care? It became an open secret. The elderly and sick began to disappear from hospitals feet first as 'mercy killing' became the policy. Children with disabilities and those who had Down syndrome were euthanized. People whispered, 'Maybe it is better for them now. Put them out of misery. They are no longer suffering. And, of course, their death is better for the treasury of our nation. Our taxes no longer must be spent to care for such a burden.' And so murder was called mercy. The government took over private business. Industry and health care were 'nationalized.' (NA-ZI means National Socialist Party) The businesses of all Jews were seized. (Perhaps you remember our story in Berlin on Krystalnacht in the book Munich Signature) The world and God's word were turned upside down. Hitler promised the people economic Change? Not change. It was, rather, Lucifer's very ancient Delusion leading to Destruction. What began with the propaganda of children singing a catchy tune ended in the deaths of millions of children. The reality of what came upon us is so horrible that you in this present generation cannot imagine it. Our suffering is too great to ever tell in a book or show in a black and white newsreel. When I spoke to Bodie (Thoene) about some of these things, she wept and said she could not bear to write them. Perhaps one day she will, but I asked her, 'who could bear to read our suffering?' Yet with my last breaths I warn every Christian and Jew now in the name of the Lord, unless your course of the church in America is spiritually changed now, returning to the Lord, there are new horrors yet to come. I trembled last night when I heard the voices of American children raised in song, praising the name of Obama, the charismatic fellow who claims he is the American Messiah. Yet I have heard what this man Obama says about abortion and the 'mercy killing' of tiny babies who are not wanted. There are so few of us left to warn you. I have heard that there are 69 million Catholics in America and 70 million Evangelical Christians. Where are your voices? Where is your outrage? Where is passion and your vote? Do you vote based on an abortionist's empty promises and economics, or do you vote according to the Bible? Thus says the Lord about every living child still in the womb. 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.' I have experienced the signs of the politics of Death in my youth. I see them again now. Christians! Unless you stand up now, you will lose your freedom of religion. In America priests and preachers have already lost their freedom to speak openly from their pulpits of moral danger in political candidates. They cannot legally instruct you of which candidate holds fast to the precepts of scripture! American law forbids this freedom of speech to conservative pastors or they will lose their 'tax exempt' status. And yet I have heard the words of Obama's pastor Damning America! I have heard the words of Obama damning and mocking all of you in small towns because you 'Cling to your religion.' But I am a woman whose name is unknown. My life is recorded as a work of fiction. I have no fear of reprisal when I speak truth to you from the pages of a book. (Though the Zion Covenant books are mocked and condemned by the Left in America.) I am an old woman and will soon go to be with my Lord. I have no fear for myself, but for all of you and for your children, I tremble. KAROL MADERA NEEDS SILENCED

Anyone happen to give a listen to the Karol Madera show this
last WEEK?

Any doubt in any ones mind that he is in serious need of
mental health help?

He is getting worse and worse.

Of course it is everyone Else's fault that as soon as he
appears on frequency (usually jamming anyone off that was
already there) he is jammed silly.

Of course I can't hear what he hears, but I think he
has a receiver problem. Why you ask? Because he can't
seem to hear anyone telling him things like "The frequency
is in use Karol, QSY". And he has a problem having any
kind of a normal QSO. It's like he is reading from a
script.

Here of late he has gone to what I call "Bucket Mouth
Sponge Boy Mode".

Industry Canada seems to think it is a "Frequency Fight"
In reality it is Karol vs the US and her citizens.

Don't believe me? Give 14.275 a listen most every afternoon
and early evening.

You may hear some of those he claims is doing the jamming.
Like me, W4NTI, etc. Mostly I respond when I hear him
calling me. But for some reason he don't hear me. I guess
I need more power, eh? That's what he does, cranks it
up, "all knobs to the right" as he says. Well past even
the Canadian limit. Which is 2500watts. Bet his neighbors
love him.

HEARD THE GREAT VE7KFM ATTACKING THE INCONSIDERATE
CONTESTERS ON BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. IN THE MIDDLE
OF ALL THAT QRM FROM ACTIVE STATIONS KAROL MANAGED TO
PICK OUT THE FOLLOWING STATIONS AS BEING THE QRMERS.
KZ8O, K3VR, NEITHER OF WHICH WAS HEARD HERE. I WAS
TOTALLY AMAZED THAT I WAS NOT INCLUDED. MAYBE I SHOULD
HAVE WAITED AROUND A BIT LONGER.

KAROL WAS ALSO HEARD TO CALL CQ AND WORK SEVERAL
STATIONS. HOWEVER HE SEEMED TO HAVE DIFFICULTY
GETTING THE FORMAT RIGHT. FOR THE MOST PART HE

A NEW CYCLE 24 SUNSPOT APPEARS

Some encouraging news for DX'ers and any ham who hopes to one day work some distant contacts. Whats being called a 'new-cycle' sunspot belonging to Solar Cycle 24 has shown itself near the stars northeastern limb. The new spot, now designated as SSN 1005 was reported over the weekend of the 12th and 13th making this the third time in as many weeks that a new-cycle sunspot has interrupted the year's run of blank solar activity.

The accelerating pace of new-cycle sunspots is viewed an encouraging sign by astronomers and hams alike. For radio amateurs, it seems to be saying that while solar activity remains very low, the sunspot cycle is unfolding more or less normally. In other words, we are not stuck in a prolonged solar minimum. At least we hope its not.

More about this new sunspot and overall solar activity is on line at www dot spaceweather dot com. And remember that Spaceweather is spelled as one word. (Southgate, Spaceweather)

I just heard Karol, VE7KFM, go for 45 minutes with a desertation
about why he thinks 14.275 has gone nuts.

It included the "fact" (according to Karol) that it's all KZ8Os
fault, (previously ND8V), And somehow it includes the events
of 9/11, Crazy people (again according to Karol), K1MAN being
put off the frequency seemingly because he interfered with
KZ8O and "others" Guess that means, anyone that don't agree
with Karol, eh?

Actually it sounded somewhat paranoid and KFM was doing ALL
the talking.

Well, now there is a super loud tape, sounds like a tape of
N1FM and KFM and a guy named George.

Personally I don't see any connection.

What I need help with tho is this, how does all this have
ANYTHING to do with Homosexualitiy, Man on Man sex ? and
pictures in a "bath house".

SO YOU WANT TO BE A LID!

Lid...a term used in amateur radio to denote a poor operator; one who is inept at the practice of the art.

A monumental problem facing amateur radio today is the alarming amount of poor operators filling the air waves. It is the opinion of many that one of the reasons for this is the fact that many of the new operators really have not been advised about proper operating procedures. Too many of the "amateur radio classes" produced today spend very little, if any, time correcting operating procedures. Their major thrust is to teach the code, cram the theory, and fill out a 610 form!

It is easy to be a lid, it must be, there are so many of them. If you are already a lid, read on. you may find some new "lid-isms." If you are not yet a full-fledged lid, you may learn some new material for your next transmissions.

Probably the most popular is "QRZ the frequency." Nobody can be quite sure what the exact meaning of this is. The ARRL Handbook lists QRZ as a CW "shorthand" signal meaning "Who is calling me?" On phone it may mean something else, although I can't imagine a frequency calling someone! I even heard a W5 utter "QRZ the channel!" Now this guy is a chief lid. The frequency was silent for a while (Probably as most good operators were in a state of shock) and then a signal from afar responded, "This is the channel and I wasn't calling you!"

I think "QRZ the channel" and "QRZ the frequency" are real winners. Use them a lot. You'll chase the good, experienced hams out of their gourds.

Actually, the use of "Q" signals on phone is in itself a true "lid-ism." The "Q" signals were devised by high speed CW operators as a form of "shorthand" in order to speed up their transmissions. What use they have on phone is questionable, as in many cases you can say the actual meaning just as fast. In many cases they cause more confusion than if you would have said the actual meaning. Then you get the real lid who comes off with "QRM-Mary or QRN-Nancy?" Good heavens, why didn't he just say he had interference?

Now, you must be ready with this one at a moment's notice: "HI." Never, ever, laugh if you find something funny. Say "HI" or even better "HI-HI." It doesn't really take the place of laughter, but it tells the other operators that you know how to laugh on CW.

Another one. Always give your callsign phonetically when operating on phone, especially when conditions are good and signals are clear. It's another small way to take up valuable air time without really adding any intelligence to a conversation. To cut a fine line, it is not legal to identify your station by saying "Whiskey Five Victor Sierra Romeo." If your call is issued W5VSR, the identification is "This is W5VSR." If copy is difficult and for clarification, then, "This is W5VSR. Whiskey Five Victor Sierra Romeo." So continue your lid-ism and show how clever you can be with ridiculous phonetics. A good friend of mine is W5BS; he has a lot of self-restraint!!

Are you interested in DX? Put these on your DX lid list, "CQ Dog X-Ray." jazz it up a little by saying, impressively "CQ Dog X-Ray, beaming Asia." Not only does that improve your antenna's directionality, but it lets everyone hearing you think you have a beam, whether you do or not.

The number one, all time lid award of the century goes to those great DX operators who listen down on one frequency in the foreign part of the band and transmit up in the American phone band without ever listening on the transmitting frequency to see if it was clear. Of course, you must use two processors, in tandem, mike gain wide open, and drive your three 8877 final tubes with an SB-220 while bellering forth, "CQ Dog X-Ray" for five continuous minutes, before listening. This is the way to attract lots of attention. Lots of it!

Next on the list is the subject of "Break." I do believe that we inherited that one from the CBers. Just find a comfortable roundtable in progress, and say "Break" or better "Break-Break" or best "Breaker-Breaker." Don't give any calls; neither the station you hear nor your own. Don't listeh for a few minutes first to find out if you can hear all of the stations in the roundtable. Just break in and disrupt everything. If that doesn't work, start tuning up your rig on that frequency. After all, aren't the frequencies there for all to enjoy?

Here are some quickies: Say "Go" or "Come back" or "C'mon, Good Buddy," instead of "Over" if you think you must say anything at all to let the other operator know you are ready to listen to him. Don't forget the all time Broderick Crawford "10-4" or better "That's a big 10-4."

It is a shame the F.C.C. no longer requires us to indicate portable operation. They have taken away another opportunity for the lid-ism---"This is Whiskey Five Very Strong Radio, Port Five." I just typed this on my port typewriter!

RESULTS GUARANTEED!!

Did you ever hear a phone operator who sounds like he's operating from a dungeon? Maybe he is, but even without a dungeon you can get the same effect by turning up your mike gain and holding your Golden Eagle D-104 at least one foot, better at two, from your face. Never close talk a mike. Disc Jockeys never do and they are "cool." When you are on the air, you are "cool" too, so you do the same. Communications microphones are designed to be close talked. Keep that mike gain at a minimum level. That way you won't be transmitting the voices of your wife and kids screaming five rooms away. Of course, to be a super lid in the audio department, do use a "power mike" driving a processor. Everybody knows that the engineers who designed your transmitter purposely made it short on mike gain.

Lastly, when giving your name, refer to it as your "Handle." It's folksy. And be sure to say, "The handle here is Beaver." That's liddier than just plain, "My name is Beaver." It also helps to punctuate your remarks with "By golly" whenever possible and remember whenever in a large roundtable, especially on a VHF repeater, give each and every call sign in the group complete with phonetics when IDing. Also don't forget to add "For ID" after your callsign.

There are many other ways to be a lid, but I feel confident that if more operators were to take a look at this disaster from the lighter side, perhaps we'll all see just how ridiculous most of the phone operation on the ham bands is today. Phone conversation should really not take on a much different atmosphere from talking to your friends on the telephone. Do you say "Over" or "Break" or the worst "Come back" when you are on the telephone? Well then, why do so many do it on the amateur bands? All of that is ever so redundant on a repeater system where most have "End-of-transmission" beep tones; and of course, there is usually a squelch burst ahead of that, so you actually ended up with a fellow ending his sentence with "Come back".... followed by a squelch burst followed by the repeater's beep and in many cases the repeater carrier dropping. You have just four indications that it's your turn! QSL?

Let's all pay more attention to this problem and see if we can help "Clean up" our operations and put amateur radio operations back up to the more professional nature that it enjoyed before many poor habits of the CB band crept up on us.

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, tell
them the following :

FDR (DEMOCRAT) led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us; Japan
did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives
were lost ... an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman (DEMOCRAT) finished that war and started one in Korea . North Korea
never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost .. an average of
18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy (DEMOCRAT) started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam
never attacked us.

Johnson (DEMOCRAT) turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000
lives were lost ... an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton (DEMOCRAT) went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter
three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple
occasions..

This one is a fact
that makes me mad as h*ll.

In the years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two
countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in
Libya, Iran, and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a
terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. And the Democrats are
complaining about how long the war is taking.

But Wait, There's more.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno (DEMOCRAT) to take
the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons in
Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton (DEMOCRAT) to find the Rose
law firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy
the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police
after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.
It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida
!!!

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do
for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard
Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu
speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and
women in the armed services do what they do for a living.

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have
never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):
'How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?'

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio): 'I served 23 years in the United States Marine
Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by
anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It
wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was not a
nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to
the bank. I ask you to go with me, as I went the other day . .. to a
veteran's hospital and
look those men ... with their mangled bodies ... in the eye, and tell THEM
they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the
widows and orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee .. and you
look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DAD'S didn't hold a real
job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery
, where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch
those waving flags You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you
have the gall to tell ME that those people didn't have a job?

What about Metzenbaum? For those who don't remember During W.W.II, Howard
Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA .

"The public cannot be too curious concerning the characters of public men." —Samuel Adams

In his Inaugural Address on 20 January, 1961, President John F. Kennedy closed his remarks with these famous words: "And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."

With those words, JFK, considered by many to be the most exemplary leader of the Democrat Party in the 20th Century, asked Americans to put country first, a bedrock principle of the Party until the last few decades.

However today, the current slate of Democrats have turned Jack Kennedy's national challenge on end, essentially proclaiming, "ask what your country can do for you, not what you can do for your country."

In 1963, Martin Luther King stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and said for all to hear, "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Has his dream been realized, or have Democrat leaders divided us up into constituency groups, where we are judged by all manner of ethnicity and special interests rather than the individual and national character King envisioned?

Kennedy and King had it right, but the Democrat Party has squandered their great legacy, and betrayed us, moreover enslaving many Americans as dependant wards of the state.

This is not the Democrat Party envisioned by Franklin Delano Roosevelt or Harry Truman, much less its founder, Thomas Jefferson, who would not recognize even the most vestigial elements of his once-noble Party. (This dramatic transition is evident in the Democrat Party Platforms from Kennedy to Obama.)

When asked why he left the Democrat Party, perhaps the most famous of former Democrats said, "I did not leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me." That was Ronald Reagan, who earned the respect and support of an enormous number of Democrats during his presidency. His observation, "the Party left me," has never been more true than today.

For several months, we have heard and observed two presidential candidates, centrist Republican John McCain and liberal Democrat Barack Obama. It should by now, be obvious to all of us who put our country first, which of these candidates possess the high qualities of a statesman, and the prerequisite moral and civic virtues for an American president.

Unfortunately, too many of my fellow Americans have difficulty distinguishing these qualities.

Every four years, at the peak of presidential election cycles, we're told by the talkingheads and the party hacks that "this election is the most important in our lifetimes." This time, however, they may be right. These are indeed perilous times.

Our nation is facing crises on several critical fronts, including an historic economic disaster, the resolution of which will require the steady hand of a statesman in possession of outstanding character — character that has been honed over his lifetime, character that is proven consistent with our nation's legacy of liberty and equality.

That reformed Democrat, Ronald Reagan, wrote, "The character that takes command in moments of crucial choices has already been determined by a thousand other choices made earlier in seemingly unimportant moments. It has been determined by all the 'little' choices of years past — by all those times when the voice of conscience was at war with the voice of temptation, [which was] whispering the lie that 'it really doesn't matter.' It has been determined by all the day-to-day decisions made when life seemed easy and crises seemed far away — the decision that, piece by piece, bit by bit, developed habits of discipline or of laziness; habits of self-sacrifice or self-indulgence; habits of duty and honor and integrity — or dishonor and shame."

For the first and final word on the necessary character traits the next president should possess, let's return to our foundation, our Founders, those who risked all to proclaim our individual rights and responsibilities as ordained by God, and outlined them in our Declaration of Independence and its subordinate exposition, our Republic's Constitution.

Our Founders wrote at length about character, both of those who seek high office (or, rather, those that high office seeks), and those who elect them. Here are but a few excerpts in their own words.

John Adams: "Children should be educated and instructed in the principles of freedom. ... If we suffer [the minds of young people] to grovel and creep in infancy, they will grovel all their lives. ... We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. ... We should be unfaithful to ourselves if we should ever lose sight of the danger to our liberties if anything partial or extraneous should infect the purity of our free, fair, virtuous, and independent elections."

Samuel Adams: "Nothing is more essential to the establishment of manners in a State than that all persons employed in places of power and trust must be men of unexceptionable characters. ... If men of wisdom and knowledge, of moderation and temperance, of patience, fortitude and perseverance, of sobriety and true republican simplicity of manners, of zeal for the honour of the Supreme Being and the welfare of the commonwealth; if men possessed of these other excellent qualities are chosen to fill the seats of government, we may expect that our affairs will rest on a solid and permanent foundation. ... [N]either the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. ... No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders. ... Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual — or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country. ... Religion and good morals are the only solid foundation of public liberty and happiness."

Thomas Jefferson: "It is the manners and spirit of a people which preserve a republic in vigor. A degeneracy in these is a canker which soon eats to the heart of its laws and constitution. ... If a nation expects to be ignorant — and free — in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. ... The whole art of government consists in the art of being honest. Only aim to do your duty, and mankind will give you credit where you fail. ... An honest man can feel no pleasure in the exercise of power over his fellow citizens."

George Washington: "No compact among men ... can be pronounced everlasting and inviolable, and if I may so express myself, that no Wall of words, that no mound of parchment can be so formed as to stand against the sweeping torrent of boundless ambition on the one side, aided by the sapping current of corrupted morals on the other. ...[A] good moral character is the first essential in a man, and that the habits contracted [early in life] are generally indelible, and your conduct here may stamp your character through life. It is therefore highly important that you should endeavor not only to be learned but virtuous. ... The foundations of our national policy will be laid in the pure and immutable principles of private morality, and the preeminence of free government be exemplified by all the attributes which can win the affections of its citizens, and command the respect of the world. ...[W]here is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation deserts the oaths...? Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism who should labor to subvert these great Pillars of human happiness — these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens."

At the end of the Revolution, when our Founders were endeavoring "to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity," Founding brothers Alexander Hamilton and John Jay and our Constitution's author, James Madison, wrote The Federalist Papers, its most authentic and comprehensive explication.

In Federalist No. 1, Hamilton warned, "Of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people, commencing demagogues and ending tyrants."

Sound familiar?

In No. 10, Madison cautions, "Enlightened statesmen will not always be at the helm," and insisted in No. 57, "The aim of every political Constitution is or ought to be first to obtain for rulers, men who possess most wisdom to discern, and most virtue to pursue the common good of the society; and in the next place, to take the most effectual precautions for keeping them virtuous, whilst they continue to hold their public trust."

Madison's Supreme Court nominee, Justice Joseph Story, wrote, "Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them."

The Founders thus warned of the perils posed by the candidate who lacks political courage; the candidate who tells us everything we want to hear.

In November 1800, John Adams, in his fourth year as president, wrote to his wife Abigail, "I Pray Heaven to bestow the best of blessing on this house, and on ALL that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but honest and wise men ever rule under this roof!"

We should all pray likewise, now, today, this minute.

As Adams understood, "A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever."

Almost two centuries later, Ronald Reagan reiterated, "Freedom is ... never more than one generation away from extinction. Every generation has to learn how to protect and defend it, or it's gone and gone for a long, long time."

So, what of the current generation of voters, and the two presidential candidates?

On 4 November, one of these candidates will receive a majority of electoral votes, and in January, be seated as our next president. But for sure, this election is much more than a referendum on the two candidates; it is a referendum on the ability of Americans to discern between one candidate who possesses the character and integrity of a statesman, which the office of president requires, and one who does not.

At this pivotal moment in our nation's history, let's hope that a majority of us have sufficient courage and character to make that distinction, and vote on what we know rather than how we feel.

Let's put country first.

is the day the United States ceased to exist.
Against the well thought out advise of our
founding fathers this government has chosen
to become bankers. All good intentioned of
course, but it will lead to the total change
to Socialism that our for fathers were concerned

persued since the days of the Hippies.

We have essentially ended the well thought out
system of checks and balances designed into our
form of Democracy which has worked these nearly
300 years.

When one branch of the government controls the
purse strings and can tell banks who to lend
to, and how much,at what rate, or at all then
the that system fails. As does the concept of
Government so well preserved untill now.

President Bush tried to make it more palatable
by saying it is ALL temporary. Trust me, it
is not. That is what Roosevelt said about
Social Security ("it is not intended to replace
the individuals savings for his own retirement").

A separate fund in each persons name USED to be
where the Social Security was placed. Lindon
Baines Johnson changed all that. He had to finance
that other unpopular war, Vietnam. So all the
SS money went to the General Fund, on a "temporary
basis". Guess what? That was in 1967 or so, and
the money STILL goes to the fund. It will never
change.

Did you hear Obama talking to that Plumber? He
was explaining that he wants to take his money
and distribute it to every one else.

Did you hear Obama say he wants to tax just the
rich and pay for the social programs with it.

A sharp talking head actually called it what it
is. SOCIALISM.

And now Bush says it is only temporary. Don't hold
your breath.

Be careful what happens next. Be real careful about
big government taking more of our freedoms. After
the Patriot act and now this we better be putting
that second amendment to use.

Good by America, it's been a hell of a run.

This is the third time in as many weeks that a new-cycle sunspot has interrupted the year's remarkable run of blank suns. The accelerating pace of new-cycle sunspot production is an encouraging sign that, while solar activity remains very low, the sunspot cycle is unfolding more or less normally. We are not stuck in a permanent solar minimum. Readers with solar telescopes should train them on the sun this weekend to observe sunspot genesis in action.

Spotless Sun: Blankest Year of the Space Age
Astronomers who count sunspots have announced that 2008 is now the 'blankest year' of the Space Age.

As of September 27, 2008, the sun had been blank, i.e., had no visible sunspots, on 200 days of the year.

To find a year with more blank suns, you have to go back to 1954, three years before the launch of Sputnik, when the sun was blank 241 times.

"Sunspot counts are at a 50-year low," says solar physicist David Hathaway of the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. "We're experiencing a deep minimum of the solar cycle."

Coinciding with the string of blank suns is a 50-year record low in solar wind pressure, a recent discovery of the Ulysses spacecraft. (See the Science@NASA story Solar Wind Loses Pressure.)

The pressure drop began years before the current minimum, so it is unclear how the two phenomena are connected, if at all. This is another mystery for SDO and the others.

I remember being a pre hi school kid and learning of the IGY, International Geophysical Year. Think that was about 1958. It was supposed to be the highest peak in sunspots in recorded history. I believe it made it. I'll guarantee you everything since has been
downhill.

Don't give up, just concentrate on the lower bands. 40 will be
the premier DX band, followed by 20. If you do CW I suggest 30 meters will be excellent.

So unless you want to go with 200 foot towers and phased verticals
and loops enjoy what is available. 80 and 160 will amaze you,
especially since US 80meters is now down to 3.6 Mhz.

No one can deny hearing about Obama’s relationship with the America-hating Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

There should be little doubt that William Ayers and Louis Farrakhan and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright are rooting for Obama — because he is one of them.

In keeping with such friends, Obama has promised to meet with radical leaders like Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad without “preconditions” even though Ahmadinejad has promised to “wipe Israel off the map” and “destroy” America.

Even radical Hamas terrorists have praised him.

“We like Mr. Obama and we hope he will win the election,” Ahmed Yousef, senior Hamas leader was quoted by ABC radio as saying.

Funny: In a forum on public service on campus earlier this month, Mr. Obama (Columbia '83) and John McCain (Annapolis '58) were both asked about the ROTC ban. When Mr. McCain predictably called on Columbia to "re-examine" the ban, he was predictably booed by a crowd of several thousand students who were watching the debate on a giant TV screen on campus.

The question was later put to Mr. Obama. "I think we've made a mistake on that," Mr. Obama replied. Just heard a station say "I notice there are no channels on HF
like there is on VHF". Then the station he is talking with says,
"that's right, just move up a few from where he is a call call CQ"
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I listen to 14.275 a lot. Out of several hours I probably hear this
phrase maybe once or at best twice "IS THE FREQUENCY IN USE" Oh well.

While I'm venting...can someone explain to me what "contact" means.
I keep looking for a propeller trying to run me over.

Montana Ham Assists in Rescue of Fellow Amateur 600 Miles Away.....On Sunday, September 21, Bob Williams, N7ODM, of Bozeman, Montana, was just tuning around on 40 meters, giving his rig a test just before a scheduled QSO with his brother Rich, K7URU, in Spokane, when he heard a faint CW signal around 1 PM (MDT): Glenn Russell Ruby Jr, W7AU, of Corvallis, Oregon had broken his leg and was using a portable radio and Morse code to send out a call for help. Williams said he was able to understand the injured man's code even when his signal became very weak.

"He called me. He must have heard me testing out the radio. When I finished, I signed off with my call, and then I heard, 'N7ODM, this is W7AU/7,' so I answered," Williams told the ARRL. "I told him to go ahead, I had solid copy. He told me that he was a hiker that had fallen and broken his leg. He identified himself as Russ, provided information as to his GPS coordinates, the shelter, food and water on hand, as well as his detailed physical condition. He told me exactly who I needed to contact for assistance."

According to Williams, Ruby had slipped on a wet rock and broken his leg while out hiking in the Buck Creek Pass area of the high Cascades in Western Washington, 600 miles away from Williams. "Russ really had his act together," Williams said. "Before he even called for help, he set up his tent. It was raining when he fell, so he climbed into his tent and got into some warm clothes and had a snack of sunflower seeds and dried apricots. After that, he strung up a wire antenna, fired up his Elecraft K1 and called me." Williams said that Ruby told him he had a "couple of weeks worth of battery power" for the radio.

Ruby asked Williams to notify the Snohomish County Search and Rescue in Washington State. "I didn't have their number, so I called my local 911 dispatcher. All they had was the info for King County in Washington, so I called them and they gave me the number for Snohomish. When I got a hold of Snohomish County Search and Rescue, they asked me to obtain additional info from Russ, such as the color of his tent and if he was in a clear or wooded area, and remain in contact with him as long as possible," Williams said.

"Russ and I were able to maintain contact until about 8 PM on Sunday, during which time I was able to pass additional traffic between Russ and Search and Rescue, but then his signal got so weak where I couldn't copy it anymore. Before he faded, we had agreed to try and make contact in the morning. I tried, starting around 6:30, but he never heard me. I finally heard him calling me around 9 on 7.051 MHz. We kept in contact until he was evacuated from the site by Search and Rescue at about 10:35 AM," Williams told the ARRL.

On Sunday, rescue crews reached Ruby, who had set up camp on Buck Creek Pass, at about 6000 feet just west of the Chelan County line. He was taken to safety Monday on horseback. Williams said that bad weather Sunday prevented a helicopter rescue: "It was snowing all night; Russ told me that when he woke up Monday morning, his tent was all covered in snow."

"I just happened to be at the same frequency," Williams said. "It's just a stroke of luck that turned out great. It was quite an experience. I'm just glad that he was a ham radio operator and that I was able to talk to him. It made the difference for him. What I did was not anything special. I'd like to think that any ham in Montana would've done the same thing."

Here I am surfing the web and listening to a Special Events station
having fun on 14.276. When out of the clear clean frequency comes
the Kanadian Fried Moron.

His first transmission is to call Americans criminals and malicious
interference. Then a KC0*** calls in and says "whats this all about"
DUHHHHHHHH. Like man let me put out the plant, like man I just
woke up from my 20 year nap.

Of course Karol "fills him in". Looked like a script from a third
class broadway show to me.

During this there were at least 3 stations begging him to turn it
down and he was splattering all over the band. Sounds about normal
to me.

In the process he moved down to 14.273. This was he could be sure
to bother everyone.

He proceeded to invite the KC0 to send him an email and he would
direct him to his "famous site".

Then he goes QRT.

Now I ask you....is this a put up or what? Does he really think
we don't understand what he is doing? Sorry Karol, we figured
you out a while back.

What surprised me was he didn't blame me for qrming him. Maybe
he got tired of hearing about me doing it from ICU last year, and
I hold the record. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Been gone a week and nothing changes. What a deal.

You would think that with all the grumbling, cussing, and carrying on
by VE7KFM about QRM he would try and avoid it himself, right? WRONG.

Today on 14.275 a very weak station from Ascension Island (ZD8LP)
worked a string of Stateside and Europe. Until of course VE7KFM,
Karol F. Madera a known troublemaker opened up calling CQ and of
course run him off.

Shortly after that a PY5 station asked if freq was in use, got no
reply after three requests...Yep you got it, soon as the Brazil
got a station in Germany Karol begins CQ'ing once again. He was
asked to standby several times and IGNORED them totally. Several
stations called him from 6 and 7 land that I could hear and super
operator heard none of them. Of course he called CQ as soon as
the Brazil station went into listening mode.

And of course he not once asked if the frequency was in use.

Now where is that Woulf-Hong when ya need it?

stateted in the past that they toss in the oval

So what does all this mean to the average ham? It means you got some
more time to talk the XYL into where to put that new tower and beam.
It also means you can get some serious DX on the low bands, such as
160, 80, 40 meters.

Speaking of 40 meters, this year is when the majority of out of our
zone stations, (such as Europe) can move up the band from 7100. This
means you can work direct to DX on 40SSB for the first time in over
half a century. This combined with the increase in DX potential of
40 will in my opinion make it the premier DX band for the next few
decades. At least for you Phone operators. Enjoy.

The volcano hurled a massive cloud of ash and sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere; high winds have since carried the aerosols over parts of the USA and Europe. was talking on one and he was QRMing me? But, we all know our
friendly fuzzy friends don't have much of a brain. Oh well,
Perhaps this will awaken some of his brain cells.

All I every did was create some phony stock certificates to raise money to get you whole after the Butchy ordeal. We knew you did not NEED a radio, just wanted to get back at Butchy and have some fun. I do not remember any specific model numbers. Polly contributed real $$ to help you. I don't remember if it was $50 or $100 bucks. I did not keep notes. The goal was to raise $400-500 to help Dan. I sent you the $ collected from Bob Blue, Me, Polly and 3 or 4 others to you.

All money raising was associated with getting you whole after the Butchy transaction on the one radio that came back hacked up as I recall.
