Sky watchers across the USA and Europe are reporting unusually colorful sunsets and sunrises. The cause appears to be the August 7th eruption of the Kasatochi volcano in Alaska's Aleutian islands. The volcano hurled a massive cloud of ash and sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere; high winds have since carried the aerosols over parts of the USA and Europe. "Violet domes," long pink rays crossing the sky, campfire-red aureoles around Venus--these are just a few of the sights documented on Spaceweather.com in recent days. When the sun goes down tonight, look west. You may be in for a treat.

Tell me IT's NOT TRUE POLLY.
Local friend of mine up in Michigan sent me this picture. Claiming
it to be of George, W4FQF, alias Polly Parrot of 14.313 fame. Would
NOT SAY who the other fella was. Some have said, perhaps it's one of
those gay boy 9 landers that like to spread trash around the internet.

First off George, remember you and Billy Jerk coming to the
Birmingham Hamfest? And how you BOTH demanded I pay you
back for that donation? Don't bother to deny it. I've
got witness statements for that also. Well I did pay both
you and Billy back I asked how much and you both said
20 bucks. And you got the money back. Need more asshole?
Trying to set the bird straight is a really tough job. But I guess
I'll keep trying.

I realise the years have been long and unkind, but here is the
confirmation from the gentleman that created the deal. As I tried
to explain to the bird, Uh...why would I need a radio when I
was talking on one and he was QRMing me? But, we all know our
friendly fuzzy friends don't have much of a brain. Oh well,
Perhaps this will awaken some of his brain cells.

All I every did was create some phony stock certificates to raise money to get you whole after the Butchy ordeal. We knew you did not NEED a radio, just wanted to get back at Butchy and have some fun. I do not remember any specific model numbers. Polly contributed real $$ to help you. I don't remember if it was $50 or $100 bucks. I did not keep notes. The goal was to raise $400-500 to help Dan. I sent you the $ collected from Bob Blue, Me, Polly and 3 or 4 others to you.
All money raising was associated with getting you whole after the Butchy transaction on the one radio that came back hacked up as I recall.

SARGE HEARD FROM AGAIN
Dan,
You and Adams looked like real warriors with your M16s and all we had were the peashooter M2Carbine because we advisors had to use the same weapons the ARVNs used.
The major who came in to thank you for the airstrikes that saved his tail said it all that day. You and Adams literally saved a battalion of Vietnamese infantry with all those airstrikes. I'll never forget the look on your face when a rough tough Army major asked where was that Air Force guy who he talked with on the radio. You looked scared as hell. 'Course you were only about 22 or 23.
After your departure, we had a huge fight at the "Y" Bridge in Cholon and the F-100s were dropping 200 pounders like crazy. They began their runs over the An Quang Pagoda and swooped down between the bars and the New Star Hotel. We could have used your expertise then but Adams was a good man. The 9th Division later came along and saved the day. I was on a side street drinking a Biere LaRue 33.
When Adams said we were getting a new radio operator, I thought, "Oh God, not another Wingnut know it all." And I was right. You really did know nearly everything and began your radio shift your first day. Impressive because it usually took a week at the earliest to get up to speed running two HF nets, two VHF and a UHF net simultaneously.
Now what did you do with that captured VC radio? Did you call airstrikes on 100 piastre alley or the Hotel New Star with it? If so, I will never forgive you. And never will Mamasan and the girls.
Just kidding. Don't let anyone get you down. You're the real McCoy.

those FAC's told them where to put it, and lit em up with smoke. You seen some
serious hero's during TET. Glad YOU didn't get on the wall cuz of that chopper
crash.
Yeah that captured VC radio....I'll chat about that another time.
Appreciate the trip down memory lane, I think..hi.

Before I even attempt to educuate you on how PTSD works I'll give you the oppurtunity to search the Internet, find out for yourself abut the "dark side". But let me assure you of this; IT REALLY EXISTS.

Appreciate you bringing up the thing about income. Over the years I have been insulted by saying I collect WELFARE. Veterans Disability Payments is NOT funded by nor is it a product of Social Security.
It is a totally separate system, based on DIFFERENT CRITERIA that Social Security.
Most Veterans that draw Disability Payments at all are a direct result of combat and/or injuries in cured while fighting a war. And are quite traumatic.
VA bases it's decision on how the injury will affect the Veterans ability to support himself in his NORMAL CIVILIAN EMPLOYMENT.
There are strict rules about that and anyone that thinks it is a matter
of bull crapping a bunch of lies to some VA employee is sadly mistaken.
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is checked out, and the process takes
YEARS. That asshole inCanada is threatning to get half of my rating
removed. Fat chance dumbo. As soon as I gimp into the building and they
grab a wheel chair for me, I won't need to do squat. Hell I'm probably
qualified at 100% on my physical conditionby itself, drop all the rest
of it. Sorry Folks too late to attack me again.
Speaking of which. A few years back I moved up to Ohio to be with my Mom
and my wife helped take care of her. She was dying of lung cancer. You
know what those Assholes in BARF did? They wrote the Cleveland VA saying
all sorts of lies I reckon and I had to go through the entire physical
and mental checkup AGAIN. Of course I passed. And to you folks out their
that support these guys and support Karol too you are one of the same to
me.
It is a insult of the highest magnitude to be called a malingerer. Which
is exactly what a gentleman that used to be a friend of mine, NR5T, Douglas
Gerry out of Columbus Texas did. This after I opened up my feelings to
him, at his behest. He claimed he wanted to know how I felt about the VA,
saying he wanted to help someone out. He probably sent it all around to his
BARF buddies. I should have known better, but what the hell. This was a man
I have known since the early 90s. A man I thought was trustworthy. Oh yes

and my wife helped take care of her. She was dying of lung cancer. You

and mental checkup AGAIN. Of course I passed. And to you folks out their
that support these guys and support Karol too you are one of the same to
me.
It is a insult of the highest magnitude to be called a malingerer. Which
is exactly what a gentleman that used to be a friend of mine, NR5T, Douglas
Gerry out of Columbus Texas did. This after I opened up my feelings to
him, at his behest. He claimed he wanted to know how I felt about the VA,
saying he wanted to help someone out. He probably sent it all around to his
BARF buddies. I should have known better, but what the hell. This was a man
I have known since the early 90s. A man I thought was trustworthy. Oh yes
he also spread around the bands that I had died to his good buddy Karol.

CONCERNING THE TROUBLEMAKERS OF HAM RADIO.

Me and you have been talking on the radio for about 20 years now and have been through the 14.313 wars and now we are fighting the 14.275 wars. We both have a distinct love of Amateur Radio and love of our country as well, and when we see either being threatened we fight back like many of us that inhabit 14.275 have done many times, and the enemy has labeled us as "The Misfits" because we are on his case day after day because of his lies, filth and profanity, quarming, hate speech, hate America diatribe and on and on. That enemy is without a doubt VE7KFM and his little band of criminal suckboys who I won't even bother to mention because they all are either in jail, lost their licenses, lost their credibility, or lost their minds. Karol's "main squeeze" at the moment seems to be WA1BHV who aids VE7KFM with his America hate diatribe on the air and stirs the pot on QRZ with fraudulent call signs and posts and has recently brought W4FQF, a troublemaker from the 14.313 wars into the picture. Many of us also think the sudden appearance of FQF on QRZ is also a fraud but fraudulent or real "who knows" .as long as it accomplishes the main objective which is to demolish Ham Radio and feed the "fruitcake freaks" insatiable appetite for attention. Talk about me bad or talk about me good, BUT OH! GOD! PLEASE TALK ABOUT ME is the motto of VE7KFM and WA1BHV and right at the moment unfortunately I am feeding their childlike ego by writing this post. Seems to me David should drop the stupid QRZ diatribe and start thinking about how he is going to feed his family and keep his house when he goes to jail for threatening to kill a Govt. official on the air. Riley Hollingsworth had given WA1BHV more breaks than anybody in Amateur Radio history and David repays him by threatening to kill him as heard by thousands of Hams one night on 75 meters. NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL HUMAN EXCREMENT .

Dealing with the BARF

I know the vast majority of you folks out there have no idea at all
about the recent posts by a fellow called w4fqf. Whom I have
determined to be the real one indeed. I did my best not to allow
my comments to get me banned. I enjoy the QRZ format and the
people on it, for the most part.
This BARF thing is concerning events that happened long before
many of you even had a license. Roughly from 1980s to about
1998 or 99. About the time Riley showed up and started taking
care of business. I freely admit I was one of his snitches. But
I was specific and my aim was accurate. I only went after the
BARF boys, and then only the worst of them. I sent in recordings
and did my paperwork. I USED TO BE A MEMBER OF THE AMATEUR
AUXILIARY. I dropped out when I felt the FCC was NOT doing
their part of the deal. I am not now and don't intend to rejoin the
group.
I see absolutely no need to bring back this BARF stuff. But if
anyone wants to discuss it, and I'll see if I can get some of the
old soldiers to come up and discuss it also, please go to my
blog at www.w4nti.com and click on the very first link in the
text to the "editorial page". There is no censorship on the BLOG
and perhaps it will serve to help someone why this recent exchange
came along.

Interesting how this crowd of BARFers go after me about Nam isn't
it? It all started by these two clowns back in the 90s. Polly and
David just loved to push my buttons. Trouble is they don't have a
damn thing of truth to say about it. All their crap about my
Military service is just that, CRAP. I was never reassigned because
the "guys" were going to kick my butt. That is something the Parrot
made up I'm sure, just like me being a cook, etc. It's all bullcrap.
And like bullcrap it sticks to the floor. After putting my life on
line for this ungrateful country, putting up with "baby killer" on
the radio TO THIS DAY I owe both of these jerks a serious ass
kicking. But unfortunately that can't happen any more. You see I
was injured in that useless war, a rocket round detonated close
and the concussion messed up my back, neck, shoulder. I was
discharged with a 50% disability rating, by the mid 90s the VA
increased it to 100%. From 1979 to that time I worked as best I
could, thus I qualified for Social Security and will get my
retirement check from them in September. Now I can hardly walk, I
guess they can do and say what they want about me now.
I don't like putting all this stuff out on the Internet. But I am
flat sick and tired of being attacked by this bunch of reprobates.
What do you know about Vietnam? Other than the place a friend of
yours died because of your cowardice. I remember you saying how
bad you felt when Aldo Ridder came up to you just after enlisting
and asked when you were going to do the same. You said you wasn't
going to do that.
You remember how you used to brag on the radio about "not getting
to go to Vietnam?" Do you remember how you would spend hours
describing how you faked your 4F rating because you were a coward?
I do.
Do you remember that every single time I would come on the air, to
talk to those friends you say I didn't have, you would come on and

Helicopter sounds? etc. This went on for

THE WINNER OF THE 14.275 JACKASS AWARD IS DAVID TOLASSI.
After many weeks of hard deliberation our select judges have
decided that WA1BHV, David Tolassi has WON the 14.275 JACKASS AWARD.
It was a tough race between him and the hands down winner for the
last six years, Karol Madera.....Better luck next time Karol.
Both Karol and David had threatned the life of the former FCC
Enforcement Chief, Mr. Riley Hollingsworth. One can understand
why the Canadians didn't go after Karol, he allegedly threatned
them with his middle finger, twice. And they left in a hurry.
However with David it must have been something more serious.
Perhaps they were waiting to "build a better case". They don't
seem to have that problem on "without a trace". Maybe David
really does have a Uncle Frank. Or perhaps the young man that
DIED for David in Vietnam, Aldo Ryder, came back to have a chat
with the law folks...perhaps they have something more in mind
for the winner of this months Jackass award??? Only time will
tell.
Actually I am a bit predudiced. David used to have a lot of fun
with me, back in what he calls the good old days. I bet even
Karol don't know about all of David's antics. But I don't think
Karol really cares. Maybe I'll put out all the good stuff the
wonderful BARF did for ham radio, right here on the world wide
web. What ya think David? Should I let everyone know about your
little games. You think the Professor would still love you?

So far Karol hasn't burst into his anti-American speech, or how he
would like Al Queda to kill more of us.
Oh my....it couldn't last...at 3.15 CDT some dipshit is playing the
"Daughter with Big Tits" tape.
Great way to influence people towards Amateur Radio folks.
There needs to be a warning sign posted on 14.275 to warn off folks.

Something to think about.

My name is Dan Frost. I live in Kokomo, Indiana. I'm 45 years old, a Christian, a husband, a father, a veteran, and a homeowner. I don't consider myself to be either conservative or liberal, and I vote for
The person, not Republican or Democrat. I don't believe there are "two Americas " - but that every person in this country can be whomever and whatever they want to be if they'll just work to get there - and nowhere else on earth can they find such opportunities. I believe our government should help those who are legitimately downtrodden, and should always put the interests of America first.
The purpose of this message is that I'm concerned about the future of this great nation. I'm worried that the silent majority of honest, hard-working, tax-paying people in this country have been passive for too long. Most folks I know choose not to involve themselves in politics. They go about their daily lives, paying their bills, raising their kids, and doing what they can to maintain the good life. They vote and consider doing so to be a sacred trust. They shake their heads at the political pundits and so-called "news", thinking that what they hear is always spun by whomever is reporting it. They can't understand how elected officials can regularly violate the public trust with pork barrel spending. They don't want government handouts. They want the government to protect them, not raise their taxes for more government programs.
We are in the unique position in this country of electing our leaders. It's a privilege to do so. I've never found a candidate in any election with whom I agreed on everything. I'll wager that most of us don't even agree with our families or spouses 100% of the time. So when I step into that voting booth, I always try to look at the big picture and cast my vote for the man or woman who is best qualified for the job.
I've hired a lot of people in my lifetime, and essentially that's what an election is a hiring process.. Who has the credentials? Whom do I want working for me? Whom can I trust to do the job right?
I'm concerned that a growing number of voters in this country simply don't get it. They are caught up in a fervor they can't explain, and calling it "change". Change what?, I ask.
Well, we're going to change America , they say.
In what way?, I query.
We want someone new and fresh in the White House, they exclaim.
So, someone who's not a politician?, I press.
Uh, well, no, we just want a lot of stuff changed, so we're voting for Obama, they state.
So the current system, the system of freedom and democracy that has enabled a man to grow up in this great country, get a fine education, raise incredible amounts of money and dominate the news and win his party's nomination for the White House - that system's all wrong?
No, no, that part of the system's okay - we just need a lot of change.
And so it goes. "change we can believe in".
Quite frankly, I don't believe that vague proclamations of change hold any promise for me. In recent months, I've been asking virtually everyone I encounter how they're voting. I live in Illinois , so most folks tell me they're voting for Barack Obama. But no one can really tell me why - only that he's going to change a lot of stuff. Change, change, change. I have yet to find one single person who can tell me distinctly and convincingly why this man is qualified to be President and Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful nation on earth-other than the fact that he claims he's going to implement a lot of change..
We've all seen the emails about Obama's genealogy, his upbringing, his Muslim background, and his church affiliations. Let's ignore this for a moment. Put it all aside. Then ask yourself, what qualifies this man to be my President? That he's a brilliant orator and talks about change?
CHANGE WHAT?
Friends, I'll be forthright with you - I believe the American voters who are supporting Barack Obama don't have a clue what they're doing, as evidenced by the fact that not one of them - NOT ONE of them I've spoken to can spell out his qualifications. Not even the most liberal media can explain why he should be elected.
Political experience? Negligible.
Foreign relations? Non-existent.
Achievements? Name one.
Someone who wants to unite the country? If you haven't read his wife's thesis from Princeton, look it up on the web. This is who's lining up to be our next First Lady? The only thing I can glean from Obama's
Constant harping about change is that we're in for a lot of new taxes.
For me, the choice is clear. I've looked carefully at the two leading applicants for the job, and I've made my choice.
Here's a question - where were you five and a half years ago? Around Christmas, 2002. You've had five or six birthdays in that time. My son has grown from a forth grade child to a high school freshman. Five and a half years is a good chunk of time. About 2,000 days. 2,000 nights of sleep..6,000 meals, give or take.
John McCain spent that amount of time, from 1967 to 1973, in a North Vietnamese prisoner-of-war camp.When offered early release, he refused it. He considered this offer to be a public relations stunt by his captors, and insisted that those held longer than he should be released first. Did you get that
Part? He was offered his freedom, and he turned it down. A regimen of beatings and torture began.
Do you possess such strength of character? Locked in a filthy cell in a foreign country, would you turn down your own freedom in favor of your fellow man? I submit that's a quality of character that is rarely found, and for me, this singular act defines John McCain.
Unlike several Presidential candidates in recent years whose military service is questionable or non-existent, you will not find anyone to denigrate the integrity and moral courage of this man. A graduate of Annapolis, during his Naval service he received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. His own son is now serving in the Marine Corps in Iraq.
Barack Obama is fond of saying "We honor John McCain's service...BUT...", which to me is condescending and offensive - because what I hear is, "Let's forget this man's sacrifice for his country and his proven leadership abilities, and talk some more about change."
I don't agree with John McCain on everything - but I am utterly convinced that he is qualified to be our next President, and I trust him to do what's right. I know in my heart that he has the best interests of our country in mind. He doesn't simply want to be President - he wants to lead America , and there's a huge difference.
Factually, there is simply no comparison between the two candidates. A man of questionable background and motives who prattles on about change can't hold a candle to a man who has devoted his life in public service to this nation, retiring from the Navy in 1981 and elected to the Senate in 1982.
Perhaps Obama's supporters are taking a stance between old and new.
Maybe they don't care about McCain's service or his strength of character, or his unblemished qualifications to be President. Maybe "likeability" is a higher priority for them than trust". Being a
Prisoner of war is not what qualifies John McCain to be President of the United States of America - but his demonstrated leadership certainly DOES.
Dear friends, it is time for us to stand. It is time forThinking Americans to say, "enough".
It is time for people of all Parties to stop following the Party line. It is time for anyone who wants to keep America first, who wants the right man leading their nation, to start a dialogue with all their friends and neighbors and ask who they're voting for, and why.

Why is WA1BHV on 14.275?
Because Riley Hollingsworth removed him from his restriction to
STAY OFF OF 20m until license renewal. That was a 3 year period.
I was the one that provided the tape that got him gone. Years of
bullcrap from Tolassi finally got some action.
He was taken off of twenty after over 10 years of his crap up
on 14.300/14313. He was a member of BARF that made a career of
jamming the Intercon and the Marintime mobile nets for YEARS.
However he is back. And he will be here forever now. Why? Riley is
gone, there is no one in the "enforcer slot" and any new guy will need
to be brought up to speed. Personally I doubt I'll live long enough
to see Tolassi and the silly assed stuff going on to go away.
The reason David is on 14.275 these days is because between K1MAN
and VE7KFM they have managed to turn it into the black hole of
20 meters that sucks all the riff raff to it. Amazing.
I tried to have a reasonable conversation with him yesterday. I'm
listening to him now, 3.50 CST. He ain't changed a bit. Still the
same ole David. Seems it will never end.
Think I'll move to 14.313.

Karol Madera Finally Admits to being a LIAR.

This photo sent to me by a reader of this blog claims it is a picture
taken of Marky, you know the fellow that made false claims of child
abuse to Child Welfare of two well known hams.
It seems Marky got thrown out of his office of President of his local
ham radio club. Something about....well that's ok, ya'll can read
about that all over the web.
I find it hard to feel sorry for you Marky, you were warned you know.
How's that go? When you play with fire, your bound to be burnt.
Now take my advice. Stop attacking those that you conjure up a image
about in your head. Remember Freedom of Speech is not the issue.
Common decency is. You need to work on that. And remember pay back

Today on 14.275 it has been reported that David is threatning K3vr,
it seems that the Gangha soaked brain of his has decided that
Brian Crow has some how threatned his family.
He claims that Mr. Crow has put his wife's "information" on the
net, and is an attack on him.
From what I recall, the info was just her name and Amateur Radio
callsign, available on QRZ 24/7.
Perhaps David should sue Fred for providing this public available
info. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Why does Whitney Tritch not use his callsign?
He comes on 275 again tonight with this; wa1bhv are you there? Does
again a couple more times then gets in a conversation with someone he
calls the Old Timer. Then asks if I'm on frequency, then I hear a

claims to be. This guy sounds like a fraud all around).

40M Phone, I'll believe it when I see it.
Better Days Ahead for 40-Meter Phone
A new U.S. ham recently posted a question on eHam about operating on 40-meter phone. At night, he said, he only hears strong shortwave broadcast stations and very few hams. Don't hams operate on 40-meter SSB at night, he asked? That's a good question and, fortunately, some relief is on the way for 40 meters -- in just a few months. And the change to 40 meters should be rather profound worldwide.
As experienced hams know, 40-meter phone at night can be horrible in the U.S. phone band because of the ear- piercing interference from foreign broadcast stations. Many of their signals are strong enough to nearly peg our S-meters and if music is broadcast, it can seemingly splatter across large segments of the band.
But some relief is on the way. As of March 29, 2009, foreign shortwave stations broadcasting on 40 meters between 7100 and 7200 KHz are to cease. They will be permitted, however, to continue using 7200 to 7300 KHz. So, that will free a 100-KHz portion of the band from the terrible interference those high-powered stations generate. As such, the 40-meter band will double in size for many of the world's hams.
At present, the band is just 7000 to 7100 KHz in much of the world. (Quite a few countries have already given their hams early permission to use the band above 7100 KHz.)
The 40-meter situation -- with shortwave broadcast stations sharing the band with hams -- has a long and complex history. But here is a short version. Prior to 1938, 40 meters was a worldwide ham-only band from 7000 to 7300 KHz. But in the years leading up to World War II, some governments began pushing to use part of 40 meters for broadcasting. Why? It's prime shortwave real estate and as the world would soon discover, they had war on their minds and wanted good propaganda outlets via shortwave radio. Hence, they obtained international permission to broadcast on a portion of 40 meters provided they did not interfere with hams in North and South America, which comprise Region 2. None of them ever took the non-interference issue seriously and hams in North and South America got stuck with terrible interference and the hams in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Regions 1 and 3, lost their use of 7100 to 7300 KHz as a result.
This injustice was partially rectified five years ago when the World Radio Conference voted to evict the broadcasters from 7100 to 7200 and return that portion of the band to hams in Regions 1 and 3. This has no direct impact on us in Region 2 other than after March 29 of next year, the band from 7100 to 7200 KHz should be free of foreign broadcast stations and all the interference they generate. Although many hams around the world will probably continue operating SSB below 7100 KHz -- as they do now -- many will certainly move up into the U.S. phone band above 7125 to work us simplex instead of operating split frequency.
Just imagine -- ragchewing at night on 40-meter phone between 7125 and 7200 without BC interference? Or working DX stations right on your frequency without having to listen down below 7100. Or, if you're in Regions 1 or 3, you can operate from 7000 to 7200 KHz.

Exclusive below 7100. The band was useless for ham use except for CW. And that
was clobbered by SWBC.
In Europe it was DAY and Night, Thus I hardly bothered to operate 40 as DA2LJ.
What I'm saying is those SWBC didn't care to follow the ITU then, and I'll believe
it when I see in now.

(North American QSO Party) beginning at 1800Z today
and ending tonight at 0600z. That is 1PM Sat to 1AM
Sunday Morning(Saturday night) Central Time.
It is CW only and is really a good beginners contest.
No high power allowed. Simple exchange consisting
of Your Name and State.

QRZ SUCCUMBS TO THE THOUGHT POLICE
What a shame, Seems Fred over on QRZ has turned that fine website over to
the thought police.
You can't say the word HITLER without getting the thread shut down. And
the reason is some people, heck I don't know what the reason is. I went
Wikepedia page and I guess I'm stupid, cuz it makes zero sense to me.
I was under the impression that in a FREE SOCIETY, like this one is
supposed to be, we could reasonably discuss all sorts of things without
resorting to CENSORSHIP. Which is exactly what has just happened on
QRZ.
He also pulled down the Political Junkey page, which I hardly ever bothered
with. Just go over and read his comments yourself. It's his page so he can
do as he wants. And I have a right to comment if I want.
Anyone want to comment about it here? I promise not to censor you. In fact
I will open it back up. Just play nice.
