The ad is from before my entry into ham radio, but still nostalgic for me. I miss the days of the big-name American brand radios in the marketplace.
Lest we forget, those seeming paltry prices were serious money back in those days: especially if it was money earned by kids mowing lawns or throwing newspapers.
They weren't cheap for me. I was doing 3 paper routes, a sophmore in High School. Soon to start another job in a radio part shop.
Between that paltry income and my mom doing most of it I managed to get a Knight Kit T-50 and a R-100 Rx. Soon to find out the rx sucked for Novice CW work. So I got a Hallicrafters SX-111. That made a heck of a difference.
